THAMES Summer Singing Challenge

We’re delighted to launch the THAMES Summer Singing Challenge this week! Over the next 6 weeks, we are encouraging children, families and schools to get singing! During these challenging times, when we’re stuck at home more and not able to see friends and relatives, we want to bring people together through the joy of singing. We hope that everyone will find this uplifting and fun, something to do together with your family, or for those still in school, with your fellow students and teachers.

How the Singing Challenge will work

We will announce a new song every couple of weeks which we invite you to learn. We will provide lyric sheets and backing tracks. Check out the first song below!

The Singing Challenge will culminate on Friday 19 June. On this day, we invite you to:

  1. Share your songs with your friends and families (or your classmates and teachers if you are at school);
  2. Share a photo on social media tagging @THAMES_music on Twitter and using the hashtag #THAMESsings;
  3. Upload your photos here and we’ll create a Summer Singing Challenge photo album for the website.

First song – We’ll Meet Again

The first song is the wartime favourite We’ll Meet Again made famous by Vera Lynn. As the country marks the 75th anniversary of VE Day on Friday 8 May, now more than ever it is important to come together and unite. CLICK HERE FOR LYRICS AND BACKING TRACK.

You might want to join in with the Royal British Legion’s nationwide sing-a-long on Friday 8 May at 9pm on BBC One and download their resource pack for children aged 7-14.

Full information about the THAMES Summer Singing Challenge can be found on the THAMES website.
