The more involved parents and carers are in school life, the better their children tend to do in school. We provide many opportunities for parents and carers) to get involved, we also run lots of courses & workshops in the annexe and can offer volunteering opportunities.
How can I get involved?
We hold a weekly coffee morning, every Wednesday from 9.00am in the annexe. This provides opportunities to meet other parents, share ideas and listen to guest speakers. Topics covered at the coffee mornings have included:
- The school’s behaviour policy
- Working group to set up the ‘home learning project packs’
- Meeting with the school’s Special Educational Needs coordinator (SENCo)
The group also helps to organise events such as the annual ‘International Evening’
The coffee mornings are open to everyone and you will find a warm welcome so just come along.
Helen Davies (our School Social Worker) and our School Counsellors are available at the meetings and can provide you with a wide range of support so if you need some additional advice and support please come along and speak to them.
Courses & workshops
We love running courses for parents & families most of which run from the annexe building.
Please contact the office on email@example.com or come in to speak to Shahara Begum or Hasna Begum to find out what’s currently on offer and what’s coming up. Or why not suggest something that you want & we’ll see what we can do? It’s never too late to learn & there’s something for everyone!
People in strong communities volunteer. We love volunteers in our school! We have lots of them & they do an amazing job. Some of our volunteers are parents & others come from the local business community. Some are looking for work experience but the vast majority just want to give something back; they love working with the children & they can see the difference they’re making. If you’d like to volunteer at Mowlem, call the school or email firstname.lastname@example.org
